Amber Portwood 'living in a nightmare' after losing custody of son
Amber Portwood is "devastated" after her ex Andrew Glennon was awarded full custody of their 4-year-old son on Tuesday.
The "Teen Mom OG" star, 32, took to Instagram on Thursday to express her disappointment about the court's decision.
“I am devastated and heartbroken by this result. I have worked so hard to better myself and improve my relationships with my children,” the mother of two shared in an Instagram post.
"While I have always been candid about my past substance abuse and mental health issues, a person should have a chance to wean themselves and not be bound by their own issues from the past."
Portwood - who previously claimed that her mental illness was "used against her" - alleged that she had taken multiple psychological evaluations to prove herself.
Stating that "those who have had therapy, and taken classes, and made efforts for change, should not be punished for past mistakes."
Earlier this week, an Indiana judge granted Glennon both physical and legal custody of their son, James.
While Portwood will get three night visits with James per month, her 38-year-old ex is planning to move their child to her home state of California.
