Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's first trailer pits Atlantis against the world
More than any other Marvel reveal to be legitimately hyped about in the first trailer for this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
During Marvel's big Hall H showcase today, actress Letitia Wright said she and the rest of the cast and crew aimed to honor the legacy that Chadwick Boseman left behind with Wakanda Forever.
The trailer of Wakanda Forever does not directly acknowledge what has happened to T'Challa in the MCU.
Their absence and the recent discovery of a new underwater nation have once again put the world – Wakanda in particular – on edge.
While Wakandans like Shuri, Queen Ramonda and Okoye are seen mourning and seemingly trying to figure out how they are going to proceed.
The trailer also shows a new group of amphibian humanoids – one of whom is born with feathered legs.
In Marvel's comics, the kingdoms of Wakanda and Atlantis have clashed to catastrophic effect on several occasions as the egos of their respective emperors clashed.
Here, the MCU's Namco and the other Atlanteans belong to Mayan cultures, and their arrival indicates some sort of confrontation with the humans of the superficial world.
