Florence Pugh has announced her separation from Zach Braff. The Black Widow actress said the former couple split earlier this year, but had tried to keep things private.

"We're trying to do this separation without the world knowing, because it's been a relationship that everyone has an opinion on," she told Harper's Bazaar.

"We felt that something like this would really benefit us in that there are millions of people not telling us how happy they are that we are not together. That's why we did it."

She continued: "I automatically get a sore throat when I talk about it." Pugh began dating the Scrubs star in 2019, when he directed her in the short film In the Time It Takes to Get There.

The couple has received criticism regarding their 21-year age difference. Defending their romance, Pugh previously said: "I'm old enough to be an adult and pay taxes, but I'm not old enough to know who I should and shouldn't have sex with?

"Still, once again, making a young woman feel like crap for no reason. I guess I felt like crap for a while... and then I thought how ridiculous is this? I'm 24 And I can't choose who I am Love?

Pugh is also set to star in Braff's upcoming film A Good Person, and working together has been described as "probably one of my favorite experiences" in a Harper's Bazaar interview.

She continued: "It felt like a very natural and easy task." Braff previously praised her performance, saying: "Florence Pugh's performance in the film, I know I'm biased, but it's the most miraculous thing you'll ever see.
