Road House remake starring Jake Gyllenhaal announced
A new Road House remake starring Jake Gyllenhaal is coming to Amazon Prime.
The film will take on the original 1989 film starring a professional bouncer who saves a small town from local thugs.
The remake is set to begin production in the Dominican Republic later this month.
New Take on the Road House follows the character of Gyllenhaal, a former UFC fighter who takes a bouncer job at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys. But he "soon learns that not everything is as it seems in this tropical paradise."
Doug Liman, who has worked on The Bourne Identity, Age of Tomorrow and Mr & Mrs Smith, is set to direct. The screenplay is being written by Anthony Bagrozzi and Charles Mondry of The Nice Guys.
The rest of the cast includes Billy Magnussen of No Time to Die, Daniela Melchior of The Suicide Squad, Gabemisola Icumello, Lucas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, and more.
The original Road House starred Patrick Swayze as the traveling bouncer who arrives in Jasper, Missouri to clean a Double Deuce bar from corrupt merchants.
This is not the first time that the remake of Road House is in the works. In 2015, UFC champion and actress Ronda Rousey was set to star in the Road House remake.
That film never saw the light of day. For more information, you can check out our list of the best action movies of the 1980s.
