Shawn Mendes Cancels Himself on 'Ground' and 'Come Back Stronger' World Tour: 'Breaks My Heart'
Weeks after postponing his Wonder: The World Tour to take care of his mental health, Shawn Mendes has pulled the plug on all scheduled future shows.
The "It Will Be OK" singer, 23, canceled all remaining tour dates on Wednesday, explaining in a statement on Instagram that she has to "make health the first priority."
"As you guys know, I had to postpone the last few weeks of shows because I was completely unprepared for the toll that it would take to get back on the road," Mendes wrote.
"I started this tour after a long break due to the pandemic, excited to finally play live, but the reality is I wasn't quite prepared for how difficult the tour would be after this time."
Mendes said that after additional conversations with his team and an "incredible" group of health professionals, he decided he needed a longer break from the road.
"It's become more and more clear that I need to take the time to ground myself and get stronger, which I personally never took.
Unfortunately I have had to cancel the rest of the tour dates in North America and the UK/Europe."
We hoped that after some needed time I might be able to take the rest of the dates, but at this point I have to put my health as my first priority.
That doesn't mean I won't be making new music, and I can't wait to see you on tour in the future.
